Cotter Pin Joints for teddy bears 6mm – 15mm
Cotter pin joints for teddy bears (and other creations!) enable them to have moving arms, legs and head and are the traditional way to joint a toy. Our cotter pin joint sets contain British fibreboard disks and British T-head cotter pins and are great for repairing vintage teddies and making artist bears too.
Assuming your creation has two arms, two legs and one head, most creations will need 5 joints. Our cotter pin joints are available in the following pack sizes:
- 5 joints (5 cotter pins and 10 disks)
- 25 joints (25 cotter pins and 50 disks)
- 50 joints (50 cotter pins and 100 disks)
Depending on the size of your creation, our cotter pin joints are available in different sizes. The smaller the creation, the smaller the disk you will need. They come in the following sizes:
- 6mm
- 8mm
- 10mm
- 12mm
- 15mm
The cotter pin joint size relates to the diameter of the disk (eg a 6mm cotter pin measures 6mm across the width of the disk). Depending on the size of the disk, the length of the pins are selected to be a suitable match.
We also stock larger disks and they have been made from hardboard to support the weight of a larger bear. These can be found on our website too.
If you are unsure how to insert cotter pin joints, we have produced a video tutorial in our ‘How to do it’ Section giving you clear instructions and showing you how easy they are to use.
