Mohair Teddy Bear Fabric -Steiff Schulte Ginger Snap – 15mm Sparse

Steiff Schulte Mohair Teddy Bear Fabric in Ginger Snap – 15mm is the perfect fabric for making traditional teddy bears and other toys too.

Ginger Snap mohair has a 15mm, sparse pile with a slight curl.  It has a pale golden ginger pile, reminiscent of teddy bear of yesteryear with a backing that is slightly more ginger.  The pile has been sparsely woven and has a slight curl giving it a slightly ‘scruffy’ look about it.  This mohair has been produced in Germany by the Steiff Schulte company.

A good shade match for cotton thread is Gutermann Cotton Sewing Thread in shade 1136 and a good shade match for an extra strong thread is Gutermann Extra Strong Thread is 893.

This mohair fabric is available in 1/32m, 1/16m, 1/8m and 1/4m pieces.   The width of the roll is approximately 140cm including the selvedges and, therefore:

• 1/32th is approx 25cm deep x 17cm wide
• 1/16th is approx 25cm deep x 35cm wide
• 1/8th is approx 50cm deep x 35cm wide
• 1/4m is approx 50cm deep x 70cm wide
• 1/2m – approx 100cm deep and 70cm wide
