Steiff Schulte Hedgehog Mohair Fabric – 17mm

Steiff Schulte Hedgehog Mohair Fabric – 17mm is the perfect fabric for making toy hedgehogs (plus teddy bears and other soft toys too!).

Hedgehog mohair is a gorgeous fabric which has ‘hedgehog prickles’ that are made from 17mm (approximately!) brown pile with a white tip.  The pile has been ‘gelled’ to give a spikey effect and has been woven into a milk chocolate coloured backing.

The hedgehog mohair has been produced in Germany by the Steiff Schulte company.  A good cotton sewing thread match Soft Hedgehog is Gutermann Cotton Sewing Thread 1115. and a good extra strong thread is Gutermann Top Stitch 124

This mohair fabric is available in 1/16m, 1/8m and 1/4m pieces (the width of the roll is approximately 140cm including the selvedges and, therefore, 1/16th is approx 25cm deep x 35cm wide, 1/8th is approx 50cm deep x 35cm wide and a 1/4m will be approximately 50cm deep x 70cm wide).
