With this traditional, jointed teddy bear pattern you can make an adorable Matthew bear.  Matthew is a shy, 23cm teddy bear who looks particularly good made from mohair.  Along with the pattern, you will also receive full instructions.

To make Matthew bear you will need the following materials (all of which can be bought from Amazing Craft):

  • 30 x 45cm mohair (1/8m of mohair will be plenty)
  • 5 x 21mm Cotter pin joints (you could use 20mm safety joints instead)
  • 3mm Glass Eyes (or you could use 5mm safety eyes but these would need to be inserted before stuffing the head)
  • Thread for the nose (we have used extra strong thread)
  • Sewing thread to match your mohair
  • Polyfibre stuffing (80g will be plenty)
  • If you want to add a little weight to your bear, our Steel Weighting works well.

This pattern has been designed for all level of bear makers and can be sewn completely by hand (back stitch is the main stitch used) or on a sewing machine if preferred (there will be a little hand sewing needed).

The instructions have been printed in English, German and Dutch and the Matthew teddy bear pattern has been designed by the very talented Anna Pavlovna.
